Privacy Policy

This page explains our privacy policy. We have 2 websites: akaija.com (where you are now) and akaijashop.com (our webshop).

The same data is stored on our home computer (Apple) and on an external backup disk, using Filemaker as a database program.

Payment details

You will only be asked for your bank or credit card details after you have been redirected to the internet payment provider for payment. These are specialized companies.
We work with the following internet cash registers:

Multisafepay (https://www.multisafepay.com)
Sisow (http://sisow.nl/)
Paypal (https://www.paypal.com/)

Which of these processes your data depends on the payment method.
We do not store your account details, so our webshop is less attractive to hackers.

Shiipping services

For shipping we make use of the following services:

PostNL (http://postnl.nl/)
DHL (https://my.dhlparcel.nl/#/)

Newsletters

If you have given permission for this, we sometimes send newsletters. As a rule, this comes down to a few times a year. For this we use ConstantContact (https://www.constantcontact.com/), using only your name and email.

What do we use your information for?

For processing orders and according to the Dutch tax department rules all invoices, be they digital or hardcopy, need to be kept for 7 years.

In addition, we store your experience stories (testimonials), if you inform us about this. This helps us to better understand the functioning of the Akaija jewelry.

Your experience stories will only be used online if you have given your special permission, and usually only with your first name. We do not make up experience stories ourselves. They are at most slightly adjusted to increase readability or to correct language errors

We never share your information with third parties!

How do we secure your information?

Our webshop is working via SSL (Secure Socket Layer).
Our home computer is already very secure (Apple with OSX) and is additionally protected with antivirus software
We have chosen not to work ‘in the cloud’ as we don’t trust this system.

The use of cookies

Cookies contain small amounts of data that are stored on your own computer and e.g. remember which browser you use, which items are in your shopping cart, which preferences you have specified. Unfortunately, our web shop does not work properly without cookies.
